Polish National Holiday Celebration

The Polish Community in the DFW area is celebrating the Polish National Holiday on Sunday May 3, 2009. The event will be held at the St. Peter the Apostle Church, 2907 Woodall Rodgers Freeway, Dallas, Texas, TX 75204.

The Constitution of May 3, 1791 is recognized as Europe's first and the world's second modern codified national constitution, following the 1787–90 ratification of the United States Constitution. The Constitution introduced political equality between townspeople and nobility and placed the peasants under the protection of the government, thus mitigating the worst abuses of feudalism. The Constitution sought to establish a more democratic constitutional monarchy and reinforced the early work on education started by the Commission of National Education. The Constitution contributed to unifying the people of Poland in these difficult times.

The event begins with a commemorative mass (in Polish) at the Church at 11:00 am followed by festivities in the Church’s courtyard. Among other activities, a group of children will present a program of Polish songs and poetry. Traditional Polish food will be available for purchase. Everyone is welcome to join us for this celebration.

The Polish American Foundation of Texas was founded in 2005 with the goal of promoting Polish culture, history and language within the community where we live and work.

The Polish Association in Texas was founded in 1958 with the goal of bringing together Polish people living in the DFW area. The organization’s focus is promoting Polish culture and traditions.
